Klaus Bürgel was born and raised in Germany. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Gesellenprufung, Hanwerkskammer Pforzheim, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from the Academie der Bildenden in Munich. Bürgel came to the U.S. in 1990 and has since taught at many prestigious art programs. He currently teaches at the 92nd St. Y in New York City. He has lectured at universities and museums worldwide and has served as guest curator for exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad. Bürgel is also noted for his drawings and sculpture.
