Couple of weeks ago, I was at the opening of Jennifer Parry’s (aka Ermietumblr) husband Tomory Dodge exhibition in the CRG Gallery. There, I had the pleasure of meeting couple of great people, including Jennifer Sarkilahti from Odette NY. Her jewelry is inspiring and just sweet. I loved meeting her and talk a little about her beautiful work.
About the designer:
Odette New York is a jewelry line inspired by organic and industrial shapes, natural specimens, antique artifacts, and travel mementos; made using ancient and modern wax carving techniques and hand fabrication.
Each original design begins from a pencil sketch that is carefully translated by hand into wax like a tiny sculpture before being cast into metal. Classic with a slightly bohemian touch, the handmade nature of Odette displays an organic aesthetic that is signature to the collection.
Jennifer Sarkilahti is an artist in New York City who designs and crafts her distinctive collection, Odette New York, out of her Brooklyn studio. Virginia-bred, Sarkilahti studied fine arts for many years, receiving her Master of Fine Arts in Painting from George Mason University. Fusing fine art sensibilities with fashion, Sarkilahti started her line, Odette New York in 2006.
Since launching in 2006, Odette New York has been featured in magazines Lucky, InStyle and People StyleWatch, worn by celebrities like Taylor Swift, and sold at distinctive boutiques around the globe; including New York, Los Angeles, Australia, Paris, and Tokyo.
