Mirit Weinstock was born on March 2, 1977 – in the port city of Haifa, Israel.
At the age of 21, discharged from her mandatory service in the army, she began her studies in fashion design at the Shenkar School of Engineering and Design in Israel. In her 4 years of studies, Mirit chose to specialize in Fashion and Performance Art.
Graduating from Shenkar in July 2002, Mirit was invited to participate in ITS#ONE in Trieste, Italy. ITS#ONE is an international talent support competition, sponsored by Diesel. A few months later, Mirit was offered an internship at the Alexander McQueen fashion house in London. The internship lasted one season – from December 2002 till March 2003. From May 2003 till July 2003, Mirit found herself in Paris, in an internship program with Li Edelkeert’s trend magazine “View On
Colour”. Being part of a small creative team, she acquired various skills that proved indispensable in the world of fashion and fashion design. Among other things, Mirit learned the different aspects of researching, brainstorming, predicating trends and esthetics.
In Septmber 2003, Mirit started an internship at “Maison Lanvin”, one of the leading fashion houses in Paris. She had the privilege to work with Alber Elbaz, Lanvin’s artistic director. Later in 2003, Mirit was selected as a Chosen Artist of the Israeli Cultural Excellence Foundation (IcExcellence) in the field of Fashion design.
At the beginning of 2004, Mirit returned to Israel and started developing her own label of ready to wear fashion for women. The line was officially born in June 2004, and launched its first US collection in Summer 2006. Today, the line is sold in specialty stores across America, Europe and Israel. The line presents the ready to wear collection and a wedding dress collection.
Mirit also collaborates with Dance companies and teaches in the Design Colleges.
