SARAH SWELL
ABOUT:
Sarah Greenberg, the designer behind Sarah Swell Jewelry, creates hand-hewn treasures in precious metals that exemplify casual luxury. All of her pieces are meticulously crafted using ancient techniques.
Growing up in a small coastal New England town, Sarah’s childhood was steeped in history, nature, and salt from the sea. An artist from a very young age, she attended the School Of The Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston, where on a whim, she enrolled in a silversmithing class. It was love at first flame. After learning the trade from a local jeweler, Sarah decided to pursue a career in the industry. She relocated to San Francisco, earning her degree from the prestigious Revere Academy Of Jewelry Arts. Sarah was then chosen to work with one of the top award winning contemporary jewelry designers in the country.
In 2008, her dreams were realized with the launch of Sarah Swell Jewelry. “I love the idea of adornment,” says Sarah. “Throughout history and across cultures, the desire to decorate one’s self has remained intact. I think it is important to wear things that are made by hand, by a real person, not some machine. My pieces are special and unique; they have quality and significance.”
“My customer range is quite broad, but the one thing they all seem to have in common is an eye for great design and a desire to purchase quality items. I love the fact that my jewelry transcends age and style.”
Sarah finds solace in, and draws inspiration from, nature and the ocean. She continuously feeds her creative muse by collecting interesting relics and exploring her urban surroundings. Sarah lives and works out of her Oakland, California studio that she shares with her longtime partner Scott, also a man of the sea.
