Elizabeth Knight
about:
Elizabeth Knight Jewelry jewelry feels as though you have been on an archaeological dig and have found a hidden relic. Hand cut, hammered and etched for an unearthed quality the work feels like a personal experience in the finding. The Philadelphia native received her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design majoring in jewelry with an emphasis on the craft of silversmithing. After graduating, designer Elizabeth Thompson moved to New York eager to create a creative community thus, establishing FluxWork Studio a shared workspace for artisans. Once the studio was in place she gave birth to Elizabeth Knight Jewelry named after her grandmothers.
It wasn’t long before the line became a full time commitment and the first collection ‘Ground & Water’ emerged from her Brooklyn studio. The pieces challenged the idea of conventional beauty while maintaining the integrity of the natural form. This is evident in staple pieces such as the Scorpion Claw Cufflinks and Rattlesnakes Jaw Earrings. Even something as delicate as a pearl enclosed in the hand of a frog makes for a statement necklace.
She continues to explore natural forms and delves deeper into their origins. While it is obvious Elizabeth loves to experiment with materials and techniques one of the most unique parts of the brand is that each piece features a forged, handmade quality. In her Armored , Dark Horse and Primitive Collections you can find moving earrings, large layered pendants, braided rope straps, stackable bangles and rings.
The line has recently gathered a lot of attention from fashion press including Vogue, Marie Clare, Lucky, I-d and Nylon. Although deeply rooted in Brooklyn, Elizabeth Knight Jewelry is carried in boutiques in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
