via:weareselectersNALLIK is a word borrowed from the Inuit language. It cannot be translated directly but means protection and nurturing in a loving way. Inuit people appreciate that we are all connected to each other and our surroundings. They respect the environment and know it contains everything we need to live.
NALLIK represents that sense of sustainability. Established in 2010 by Jean Balke, NALLIK is created from natural components like semiprecious natural stones, contrasted with metals.
Jean grew up in Germany, lived in Helsinki, London and San Diego and currently resides in Berlin. Prior to jewelry design, she worked as a photographer and art director. Jean has travelled to over 45 countries, drawing inspiration from the remarkable people and unique landscapes she has experienced along the way.
